Materials & Care
Unless a product description states otherwise, Laylea Jewelry is made with 316L stainless steel. Our gold-coloured pieces are plated with 18K gold using physical vapour deposition (PVD). Silver-coloured pieces may have an unplated stainless-steel finish rather than white-gold plating. Check the individual product description for details of its materials and finish.
Why we use these materials
316L stainless steel is strong, durable and resistant to corrosion, making it well suited to jewellery worn regularly. It helps pieces keep their shape and finish with proper care.
PVD applies a thin gold-coloured coating to the steel. It gives our gold-coloured pieces their 18K gold finish while retaining the strength of the stainless-steel base. Like any plated finish, it can show wear over time, especially where a piece rubs against other surfaces.
Stainless steel is often a comfortable choice for sensitive skin. However, 316L steel contains nickel, and individual reactions can vary. If you have a known metal allergy, please check the materials listed for the piece and contact us before ordering.
Caring for your jewellery
- Wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth after wearing it.
- Rinse it after exposure to salt water or chlorine, then dry it thoroughly.
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, cleaning products and harsh chemicals.
- Store pieces separately to help prevent scratches and tangling.
- Treat natural stones and decorative details with extra care.
